Lift and Escalator Safety Management in Hong Kong

With the advancement of technology, much improvement has been made in the design and construction of lifts and escalators to safeguard public safety. While safety engineering remains and important tool to improve safety, it is not a total solution. On the other hand, safety management cares about overall safety achievements, which depend on carrying out effective management activities. This paper reviews a number of modern safety management principles and practices and examines the current safety management practices of the lift and escalator industry in Hong Kong.
