Statutory Requirements for Lift and Escalator Installations in Hong Kong

The Lifts and Escalator (Safety) Ordinance provides the Government with authority to regulate the design, operation, maintenance, examination and testing of lifts and escalators. This paper describes the mechanism of control, legislation and standards relating to lifts and escalators installed in Hong Kong.
