Rope Brakes Revisited

Since the concept and practice of the rope brake was introduced at Elevcon ’92 in Amsterdam, a number of accidents have taken place. This paper reviews some of the accidents, which have occurred, when ‘falling’ upwards and the interest the device has aroused in the USA.
