The trend of traction forces in elevator wire ropes is investigated by different authors. Only integral data of the creep are known. Still details of the relative displacement on the traction sheave are important. These define the creep angle, give insight in the character of the movement and help to quantify the wear in relation to the endurance of the system. This paper deals with a method, which accurately makes visible the creep of one single point of the rope, running over a sheave. By precise investigations of the video recordings also the creep velocity can be traced. Test results will be compared with the theory of Eytelwein.
